It's your “ace reporter”, Perry here, and I have been on assignment, deep under cover in Europe, checking out the wonders of being in this part of the world at Christmas. The tour I went on came about from a holiday I had always dreamt of doing. I then worked with my product team to make this dream a reality and had 34 of our Privilege Club members come along with me and my family.
Absolute highlights from this unforgettable trip include visiting Zermatt, right under the magnificent Matterhorn, taking the Gornergrat train up to view the Matterhorn, snow everywhere, skiers everywhere and the amazingly beautiful blue skies. Then to top it off, we caught the Glacier Express, the world’s slowest “express” train, right across Switzerland. We also had the opportunity to visit Salzburg and see the hills alive with the Sound of Music (can you believe it’s been 53 years since it was released!).
And I haven’t even gotten started on the Europe River Cruise portion where we visited some amazing destinations between Passau and Budapest, via Vienna. Due to the time of year we were able to visit the fascinating Christmas Markets, and boy was that an experience. From the festive decorations, the smell of the mulled wine and cinnamon to the variety of traditional products on display, it was truly a sensory overload.
There was an optional extension available on this tour and it was definitely worth doing, so we have included it again in this year’s full itinerary. This extension saw us at one of my absolute “bucket list” destinations, historic Cesky Krumlov, and ending in Prague for a magical New Year’s Eve! I tell you what, the Czech people sure know how to put on a fireworks show!
