Prague is an amazing place, with history stretching back centuries. I was excited to visit for the first time.
Standing on top of the hill overlooking the bustling city of Prague is the majestic Prague Castle. This awesome complex – complete with palace, cathedral, and the Golden Lane – is visible from almost everywhere in Prague.
We stayed in the middle of the old city, making it easy to explore the cobblestone streets. We spent hours in the Old Town Square, taking in the street markets; the Jewish Quarter and the unique astronomical clock, first installed in 1410. All around the square were coffee shops, book and souvenir stores, and of course, food stalls – one was even roasting a pig on a spit! However, the absolute highlight for me was the day we spent at the castle, one of the best I’ve ever seen! Soldiers in costume greeted us at the gates, and once inside, there was so much to see. We also explored Golden Lane, created in the 15th century when a new outer wall was added to the existing castle complex. All too soon my Prague stopover came to an end, but I would definitely visit this fabulous city again.
