Postcard from Lucy in China

‘Wherever you go, go with all your heart.’ – Confucius

This quote could not be more accurate whilst travelling the world, and in particular on my most recent visit to China. Our Seniors Holiday Travel Team tour group really immersed themselves in the Chinese culture for an exciting two weeks. We touched down in Guangzhou before travelling on to the beautiful cities of Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Xian and Beijing. We experienced the real highlights through our knowledgeable tour guides. Some cities had the population of Australia!

My highlight was climbing to the top of the Great Wall of China. It is a truly breathtaking experience. We all had a fantastic day. We were also extremely excited to visit the Terracotta Warriors and see some gorgeous panda bears in Beijing. We tasted local cuisine, witnessed amazing performances, took in city sights, visited parts of ancient China, and we even had time to shop! We travelled on the bullet train between Xian and Beijing – over 1,000km in approximately 5 hours. And some opted to experience the Maglev Train in Shanghai, which travelled 30km in 7 minutes, reaching 431km/hr. No trip to China would be complete without experiencing a cruise on the famous Yangtze River. I highly recommend it!
