Shelley Hosts our Magical India Tour

I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant when I was asked to host this tour as I had never been to India before and wasn't sure what to except. I had many questions running through my head - Would it be a huge culture shock, would the people be friendly, will the food be too spicy??

The answers were no, it wasn’t a huge culture shock. Yes it is a very different way of life in India, but you can see how they make it work and the people are very friendly and happy. Also the food wasn’t too spicy, they make mild versions of pretty much anything.

After visiting India, I can whole heartily say that it is a truly amazing country, ethical diverse and filled with history, culture, exotic cuisine, and a kaleidoscope of colour. It is such a mixture of old and new, from the ancient Forts and Tombs to the ultra –modern, but chaotic city of Delhi.

The highlight of the Tour for me was sunrise at the iconic and breathtaking Taj Mahal. This beautiful ivory white structure is awesome and truly one of the wonders of the world, built as a memorial to Shah Jahan’s wife and taking over 20 years to construct.

Taj Mahal India

The stunning Hawa Mahal Palace in Jaipur, a red and pink sandstone building is another landmark building not to be missed. This building has a honeycomb façade enabling the royal women to observe life outside the Palace without being seen.

I cannot recommend this Tour highly enough, it is truly an amazing travel experience and one not to be missed – put it on your bucket list. Check out more of my trip photos and if you’re keen on joining, check out the next Magical India tour departing in March 2019.

Fun Fact:

Did you know that spicy doesn’t mean hot in India, it means that the dish has plenty of spices in it. So don’t ask for no spice, because you are sure to get a very bland meal. Just ask for it to be ‘not hot’.
