Hobart – Seen from its fine deep-water harbour, Hobart spills over the lower reaches of the Derwent Valley as Mt. Wellington towers in the background. Much of the city’s heritage is centered on the historic waterfront. With more than 90 National Trust buildings, Hobart, founded in 1804, combines colonial character with a sophisticated metropolitan lifestyle.
Port Arthur – Port Arthur is also your gateway to the wild and scenic Tasman Peninsula. Its wave-lashed coast is the site of spectacular rock formations such as Tasman Arch, the Tessellated Pavement and the Devil’s Kitchen. The peninsula is also home to small farms, superb fruit orchards and acclaimed vineyards.
Wineglass Bay & Oyster Bay (scenic cruising) – Jutting out from Tasmania’s eastern coast, the Freycinet Peninsula is home to Freycinet National Park, a beautiful wilderness area encompassing pink granite mountains and jagged peaks that overlook the sparkling waters of the Tasman Sea. Located within the park are two gorgeous bays, best viewed from the sea. Named for its shape, Wineglass Bay is the smaller of the two, a secluded area with glistening sapphire waters that give way to the velvety white sands of one of the world’s most stunning beaches. Broader in size, Great Oyster Bay is steeped in history, and served as the former stomping grounds of Tasmanian Aborigines who harvested shellfish along the coast.
